Multiple Implants

The implantation procedure is mostly the same for single and multiple implants. However, when placing multiple implants, sedation is more often considered. This is administered by a dedicated visiting anaesthetist. This ensures comfort and relaxation for the patient during surgery. Sedation is used since the extended length of the procedure might be uncomfortable otherwise. Multiple implant placement also require thorough planning. The precise positioning and parallelity of the implants is very important. We usually take 3D X-rays to assist us with the planning, which we do on-site. Very often, it is possible to attach temporary bridges to the implants within a few hours or a few days after the implants are placed. The chewing forces are distributed between the implants making it relatively safe to do so. This method can take a person from no teeth to a full set within just a few hours.

Case study:

This male patient lost his teeth boxing when he was younger. He had had a good bridge for several years but the teeth eventually failed and had to be removed with the bridge. Within four months, he had a brand new set of teeth that should last him a lifetime.
